Mrs. Monique Chan has been in the banking industry for 30 years, the last 25 of which was in private wealth management. Prior to setting up Sancus, Mrs. Chan was most recently with Bank J. Safra Sarasin where she was Vice Chair Asia and Branch Manager Hong Kong. She was appointed Chief Executive Officer of BMO Private Bank Asia in 2015. Together with her team, they successfully built an award-winning private bank in 5 years. Before that, she was Chief Executive Officer of Banque Privée Edmond de Rothschild in Asia. Mrs. Chan started her wealth management career with HSBC Private Bank (Suisse) SA, where she held various senior management positions for 15 years, including Chief Executive Hong Kong, Chief of Staff Asia, Chief Technology and Services Officer and Global COO of the trust business.
Externally, Mrs. Chan was actively engaged in the founding of the Private Wealth Management Association (“PWMA”). She had been an EXCO member since 2016 and Vice Chairman in 2020. She was also Chairman of the Enhanced Competence Committee and Apprenticeship Committee of PWMA. Mrs. Chan is well recognized in the private banking industry and has been awarded the Top 50 Most Influential Private Banking Executives in Asia. She has been Member of the Financial Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council since 2021.
Mrs. Chan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography and Geology from University of Hong Kong, and has a Master of Business Administration from University of New South Wales. She is also a Certified Public Accountant in Hong Kong and Australia. She is active in a number of charities. She is Honorary Treasurer of the Children’s Thalassemia Foundation, and Chairman of ReSource Counselling Centre.
