Grew up in Canada, collaborative pianist Ronald Cheung enjoys a versatile career as répétiteur, vocal coach, chamber musician, and conductor. In March 2016, he was the répétiteur for Anna Netrebko Asian Tour in collaboration with Hong Kong Arts Festival. He was a scholarship recipient for Songfest 2012 in Los Angeles, attended masterclasses and coaching sessions by Margo Garrett, Martin Katz, and Graham Johnson. He spent two consecutive years working with diction legend Nico Castel at Opera NUOVA at the University of Alberta in Canada, along with other coaches and singers from the Metropolitan Opera and Canadian Opera Company. He also participated in French songs classes at Vancouver International Song Institute. Ronald holds a bachelor of music in piano performance from the University of Manitoba, and an Opera Apprenticeship with Manitoba Opera.
Since September 2023, Ronald joins “Under the Lions Rock” concert series, touring to 20 cities in mainland China. He has been the artistic director for the new Show Choir and Handbells Ensemble at Shantou University. He is associate supervisor at Yip’s Children’s choir, part-time faculty at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, freelance keyboard player at HKPhil, répértiteur at Opera Hong Kong, and choir conductor at St. Joseph Primary School. Ronald founded DictionLab in April 2014 to promote language diction and art songs in foreign languages, and has successfully held performances and masterclasses locally and abroad. He has worked with distinguished conductors including Edo de Waart, Lorin Maazel, Yves Abel, David Stern, and Jaap von Zweden. He joins VOX Integra in 2024 as vocal coach and répétiteur in Feltre, Italy.
Since 2021, Ronald becomes a committee member of the Li Bing Vocal Music Development Fund.
