Gabrielle Yuen began her musical education as a Junior student of Professor Ray Wang at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and later studied with Richard May at Wells Cathedral School. As a scholarship recipient at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, she has studied with Rebecca Gilliver, the Cello Principal of the London Symphony Orchestra and Louise Hopkins.
Gabrielle made her concerto debut at the Wells Cathedral, performing the Haydn Cello Concerto in C Major. She has been invited to perform in the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, St John’s Cathedral, St Steven’s Church and was also invited to play with the Bath Bach Choir in the Bath Abbey, performing solo cello in ‘Tavener Svyati’
She has been invited to be principal cellist for the PolyU orchestra at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, under the baton of Leung Kin Fung. Recently she has been invited to play with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra as guest musician due to exceptional playing at the audition.
She has also toured China and Hong Kong as part of the School’s Symphony Orchestra, and Germany as prinicpal cellist and performed in St James’ Palace in London.
As an active chamber musician, her piano trio won the St James’ Piccadilly Chamber Prize and performed in the St James’ Piccadilly Church.
She has attended music festivals including the Great Mountain Music Festival in Korea, Summit Music Festival in the US and Youth Classics in Zurich, where she received masterclasses given by internationally distinguished artists, such as Frans Helmerson, Jens- Peter Meinz, Leonid Gorokhov, Thomas Demenga, Takacs Quartet, Chillingirian Quartet, L.A Philharmonic cello principal.
