He is a renowned Chinese jurist, senior researcher at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Arts and Humanities of the China Academy of Art, and a part-time professor at Guanghua Law School of Zhejiang University. His main areas of research are legal culture, legal history, law and society, etc. He is the author of more than ten books (one of his representative works is 《觀察者》).
