We believe that true conservation begins with love.

While traditional environmental education focuses on science, LumiVoce Foundation programs engage the heart. Our mission is grounded in our unique and proven approach that combines Aesthetic Education (AE) with Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) to foster passion among youth by harnessing the power of music and the arts for biodiversity education.

In a rapidly changing, technology-driven world, we recognize that many disadvantaged students lack access to the arts, nature, and experiential learning that nurtures creativity, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.

Through our inclusive and holistic approach, we ensure that all students,
especially those from less privileged backgrounds, have equitable access to these essential developmental opportunities.

Through our programs, students learn about more than just the importance of biodiversity. They are guided to explore the natural world through creativity and artistic expression, while building resilience, empathy, and a sense of belonging. In doing so, they grow not only as environmental
champions, but as adaptable, confident individuals equipped for the future.

傳統環境保護教育多側重科學知識，而明音基金會的宣傳活動計畫則更希望能觸動人心。我們的核心理念經實證獨具特色：融合審美教育（Aesthetic Education, AE）與社會情感學習（Social and Emotional Learning, SEL），通過音樂與藝術的力量推廣生物多樣性教育，培育年輕人對自然的熱忱。

現今世界科技發展迅速、瞬息萬變，我們注意到許多弱勢群體學生缺乏接觸藝術、大自然與體驗式學習的機會 —— 而這些正是滋養創造力、建立自信、維持情緒健康的關鍵。通過對多元的包容、全面性發展的教學模式，我們致力讓所有學生（尤其來自弱勢家庭的孩子們）都能平等享有這類不可或缺的成長資源。

參與本基金会計畫的學生学到的不只是生物多樣性的重要性。我們引導孩子在創作的過程中用與藝術去表達，去探索自然，同時培養逆流而上的能力、同理心與歸屬感。這段歷程不僅讓他們成為守護環境的先行者，更成長為適應力強的個體，能夠充滿自信的面對未來的挑戰。

Why we focus on disadvantaged students
我們為什麼關注弱勢學生

Every young person deserves opportunities to develop creativity, confidence, wellbeing, and a sense of belonging. In Hong Kong, however, disadvantaged students often have the least access to arts, nature, and essential learning and development opportunities that support holistic development.

A 2025 study by SoCO and CUHK found that 21.7% of children from disadvantaged families were unable to participate in extracurricular activities, and nearly 40% could not go out with family or friends even once a month.

Research shows that social capital, especially relationships formed through shared activities with peers and parents, is the most significant factor in a child’s wellbeing. Children with more of these opportunities report higher physical and psychological wellbeing and fewer depressive and anxiety symptoms.

LumiVoce brings arts-and-nature based learning together with social-emotional development through accessible, inclusive programs designed for students who face the greatest barriers. By focusing on disadvantaged students, we work to reduce inequalities in learning and development, and create meaningful opportunities for all young people to thrive.

每個年輕人都值得擁有培養創造力、自信心、身心健康和歸屬感的機會。然而，在香港，弱勢學生往往最難獲得藝術、自然及其他支持其全面發展的重要學習機會。

香港社區組織協會與香港中文大學於 2025 年共同進行的一項研究發現，21.7% 的弱勢家庭兒童無法參加課外活動，近 40% 的兒童甚至一個月都無法與家人或朋友外出一次。

研究亦表明，社會資本——尤其是透過與同儕和父母共同參與活動而建立的關係——是影響兒童身心健康的最重要因素之一。擁有更多此類機會的兒童，身心健康狀況更佳，憂鬱和焦慮症狀也更少。

明音將藝術和自然學習與社交情緒發展相結合，透過易於參與且包容性強的教育項目，為面臨最大障礙的學生提供支援。我們專注於幫助弱勢學生，致力於減少學習與發展方面的不平等，並為所有年輕人創造有意義的成長機會。

Challenges faced by disadvantaged children
in Hong Kong
香港弱勢兒童面臨的挑戰

Disadvantaged children in Hong Kong often grow up under significant financial pressure, with limited access to educational, cultural and equal learning and development opportunities. This restricts their participation in arts, nature, and other experiences that nurture confidence, creativity, social skills, and wellbeing.

Many families struggle to afford activities outside school. A SoCO study found that about 60% of disadvantaged children surveyed had no summer activities arranged, and 93% said their families found the cost of summer activities difficult to meet. At the same time, 85% of parents in a large local survey felt their child did not have enough contact with nature, and over 40% visited nature with family only once every six months or less.

These challenges affect not only academic progress but also children’s sense of belonging, self-expression, and readiness for the future. In-depth arts involvement is linked to better academic outcomes for teenagers and young adults from low socioeconomic backgrounds, including higher grades and greater rates of college enrollment.

LumiVoce responds to these challenges by bringing inclusive, high-quality arts-and-nature based programs directly to disadvantaged students, creating supportive spaces where they can learn, create, collaborate, and build resilience. Disadvantaged students are not held back by a lack of potential, but by unequal access to learning and development opportunities outside the curriculum. LumiVoce is working towards closing this opportunity gap in partnership with schools and community organizations, so that all students can thrive.

香港的弱勢兒童往往在巨大的經濟壓力下成長，取得優質教育資源、參與文化活動及享有平等的學習和發展機會均大幅受限。這種資源缺口，進一步限制了他們接觸藝術與大自然，阻礙其培養自信、創造力、社交技能及健全身心的可能。

許多家庭難以負擔課外活動的費用。香港社區組織協會（SoCO）的一項研究發現，約 60% 的受訪弱勢兒童沒有安排暑期活動，93% 的兒童表示他們的家庭難以負擔相關費用。同時，一項大型本地調查顯示，85% 的家長認為他們的孩子缺乏與自然的接觸，超過 40% 的家長表示孩子每六個月或更少才會與家人一起親近自然一次。

這些挑戰不僅影響孩子的學業進步，也影響他們的歸屬感、自我表達能力，以及面對未來的適應力。研究指出，深入參與藝術活動與低收入家庭青少年及年輕人的學業成績密切相關，包括更高的分數和更高的大學入學率。

明音致力於應對這些挑戰，將包容性強、高品質的藝術與自然教育項目直接帶給弱勢學生，為他們創造支持性的空間，讓他們能夠學習、創作、協作並培養韌性。弱勢學生並非缺乏潛力，而是缺乏課外學習和發展的機會。明音正與學校及社區組織合作，努力彌合這一機會差距，讓所有學生都能茁壯成長。

I like red coral the most because my mom and I had so much fun painting the coral tentacles together. This is the happiest moment of this competition (for me) because we have never tried to paint together. I hope we can have more opportunities to paint together.

The reason I made this video is because I wanted to raise awareness about the pink dolphins because thev're really beautiful creatures. There's only 32 left in HK, and they're dying because of humans, so l wanted to raise awareness to protect and save them.

I learned a lot about how the specific animal that I chose helps the ecosystem that I live in…, and how we can help so it becomes not endangered anymore. I want people to feel a bit sad (when seeing my work), so they are inspired to take action. After I finished, I sent my work to a few family and friends, hoping the work will educate them.

When Yuen Ying did research about the Chinese White Dolphin, she learned that the ocean is very polluted by plastic, and the sea creatures would digest it, so we started using less plastic and even started carrying recycled bags when we go out. It (the competition) also gave us (parents) a chance to learn about nature and biodiversity.
